How to Become a Biomedical Engineer

A biomedical engineer is someone who combines the skills of biology and engineering. This is a great job.

    As with all careers, remember that you must do well in high school first. To get into a good university, you must get good grades. Take honors and AP courses, and do extracurriculars.

    In high school, take as many science courses as possible. Biomedical engineers often deal with biology and chemistry. Courses such as honors biology, AP biology, honors chemistry, AP Chemistry, and chemistry in medicine are all great.

    Apply to a good engineering school for undergraduate. You will learn a lot of biology here as well. Take courses dealing with chemistry, such as inorganic and organic chemistry.

    Get good grades in undergraduate as well. Do volunteer work, work with an engineer. Do some research and publish it! This makes your application stand out.

    Gain graduate admission. This is the equivalent of the four-year engineering school that comes after an undergraduate education. As always, keep your grades up. Try to get an apprenticeship or internship if possible.

    Finally, after graduate school, you are ready! Apply for a job. It is predicted that employment outlooks for biomedical engineers are very good.
